Macintosh Dialup Configuration

Obtaining the Correct Software

For best results connecting to NetSys, you should acquire a copy of ConfigPPP.

Configuring MacTCP

You first need to make sure that the MacTCP extension is turned on. If you needed to turn this extension on, please reboot your machine at this time.

  1. Open the MacTCP control panel.
  2. Select PPP and click on More.

  3. Enter all the information as shown in the image below. Make sure there are no discrepancies.

  4. Once you have correctly filled out all the information, press OK.
  5. Open ConfigPPP (you must have ConfigPPP installed to continue - see above for information on downloading the latest version).

  6. Select New... to add NetSys. When prompted for the PPP server name, enter netsys.hn then press OK.
  7. You will then need to select Config... to configure the PPP connection.
  8. Make sure that the information from the below image matches the information on your computer.

  9. Select Connect Script...
  10. Enter the following information as it appears on the image below:

  11. Select OK
  12. Select Open to connect to NetSys.

Please Note: If you are used to using FreePPP instead of MacPPP, FreePPP sets up exactly like MacPPP but slightly different. It uses open transport and instead of MacTCP it uses a folder called TCP/IP. Opening it you'll be presented with a reduced box for IP address and domain server/DNS information. THIS MUST BE FILLED OUT. Also - when beginning, you can open up the open transport and before dialing, select edit, then options and clicking on that will give a selection of beginner, intermediate or advanced settings. Select intermediate level and fill in the box that says "start domain search with" phoenix.net. This should allow FreePPP to dialin without trouble and establish a connection.
