If you have upgraded to Windows 95 from a Windows 3.1 system, and previously used another dial-in program (like Chameleon) there may be some installation difficulties. Our customer service personnel can assist you.
There are numerous other utility programs that can enhance your internet use, such as mail clients for exchanging e-mail, news readers for reading Usenet news groups etc. Two excellent sources of these programs are http://www.cwsapps.com or http://www.tucows.com

If you purchased your computer with Windows 95 or have Plus Pack already installed, you have a browser - Use it! To see if you have it, Click you start button, programs, accessories, internet tools. If you have it, Microsoft Internet Explorer will appear in the internet tools menu.
If you don't have a browser, you will need to download one. Once you are connected to NetSys as discussed above, you can download a browser like Netscape so you can browse the World Wide Web. To do this you will use FTP (File Transfer Protocol).
6. About FTP
File Transfer Protocol (FTP)- FTP enables you to connect to a remote computer and transfer files back and forth. It's really that simple. More data is transferred via plain old FTP than by any other method on the Internet, and its not surprising since it's a least-common denominator that almost every machine on the Internet supports.
In order to use FTP, you must be directly connected to the Internet. There are probably millions of files available via FTP on the Internet, although you may discover that many of them are duplicates because people tend to want to give users more than one way to retrieve a file. If a major file site goes down for a few days, it's nice to have a mirror site that has exactly the same files and can take up the slack. The vastness of the number of files stored on FTP sites may stun you, but you have access to a tool that helps bring FTP under control.
Anonymous FTP is a way for Internet users to log-on to remote computers that they do not have specific passwords to. Instead of typing in your username and password you type in the word "anonymous" for the username and your complete e-mail address (username@netsys.hn) for the password.
Remember that FTP is a very resource intensive operation (it uses a lot processor speed and bandwidth from the remote computer). Also, a system administrator does not have to let you on his computer system or network (this is why, as a courtesy, you should use your e-mail address - so they know who you are).

To view the modem transferring data: Go to the tool bar, next to the time display there will be an icon of a modem. When data is being transferred, the two lights will alternate from red to green. The speed of the blinking will be affected by the size of the data being transferred.
