This will serve you if you must reload the Trumpet winsock eval package first given to you by NetSys. First you must download the file "trumpet.exe" from the NetSys FTP Site. Once this has been loaded into a temp directory on your hard drive. You can erase the contents of C:\trumpet\ and copy trumpet.exe to this directory and expand by double-clicking the file. Once the expanded files are in, open tcpman.exe and go to menu choice "file".
Under File / Settings:
Name Server=206.48.255.1
Time Server=206.48.255.2
Domain Suffix=netsys.hn
The below settings work in general, but based on your modem speed you may have to tweak these:
- mtu=1064
- rwin=4096
- mss=1024
- Demand Load Timeout: 5
- TCP RTO MAX: 60
- SLIP Port: Enter the COM Port for your modem (ie. 1, 2, 3 or 4)
- Baud Rate: For a 14,400 use 57,600, for a 28,800 use 115,200
- Hardware Handshake: Check this
- Van Jacobson CSLIP Comp: Check this
- Online Status Detection: Check None
Select "OK", then "DIALER", then "OPTIONS"
- Select Automatic Login and Logout on demand.
- Change SLIP inactivity timeout to 0
- Check Automatic redial when disconnected
- Check Use Standard SLIP settings for parity & word size.
Click on "OK"and exit the program.
A special copy of LOGIN.CMD is included in the downloadable file "nstrump.exe" on the NetSys FTP Site assist you with logging into NetSys. You may want to edit this file to change the MODEM settings to your recommended initialization strings. The generic ones in the script seem to work with both 14.4 and 28.8 modems.
Manually edit the TRUMPWSK.INI file, line 3 change gateway=0.0.0.0 to gateway=206.48.255.1
Save this, exit and re-run WinSock. The first time thru it will ask you for the phone number, your user ID and your Password. It will remember these things in the future and just starting the program will cause it to dial and log you in.
