Q:
What is E-mail?
A: Electronic mail ("email")
works very much like postal mail. You receive mail at your own "address",
and you send mail to others at their addresses.
If you are on the Internet, you already have an email address (jsmith@mail.netsys.hn"). The name before the "@" symbol identifies the recipient of the mail (it can be a person, a position, or the name of a department or company). The information that follows the "@" symbol identifies the computer to which the mail is sent.
If you have used a computer to type a letter, then you have most of the skills needed to send email. The only difference is that with regular mail you would have to print out the letter and put it in a mailbox, whereas with email you press a key or two and the letter is transmitted electronically to the recipient.
If the recipient of your email has an account with a server on the Internet,
then he or she can read your letter within a few seconds.
Q: What is my
E-mail address?
A: Your E-mail address will always
be yourusername@netsys.hn (i.e., john@netsys.hn or jsmith@netsys.hn).
It makes no difference whatsoever the E-mail software that you decide to
use.
Q: How do I send
files via email?
A: In Eudora, for instance, you should
choose "Message > Attach Document" from the pull-down menu.
A file locator dialogue box will open, and you should double click on the
file you wish to attach to the message. In the message itself, you will
then see a line showing which file will be attached when the file is sent.
The recipient must be using an email program that accepts MIME attached
files, and his or her mail server must be able to handle MIME files as
well. 
There are other formats for attaching files to email messages such as
UUENCODE (used for images) and BinHex (for Macintosh files), but MIME is
the standard.
Q: What different
programs are available for me to use E-mail?
A: There are currently several options:
